The bills, the amendments and the votes kept coming. And shortly after 1 a.m. Friday, papers were tossed into the air amid shouts of “sine die!” The 2026 Georgia legislative session is over.

Lawmakers filed over 4,700 bills and nearly 1,900 resolutions since the end of the 2025 session.

The final day of this year’s session came during an election year, making it the swan song for a number of lawmakers who are leaving to run for higher office. Many others are retiring. Now legislators can resume fundraising and campaigning with primary races less than two months away.
