A group of Atlanta community and labor organizations is demanding stronger protections for workers, immigrants and the city’s unhoused population ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Watchdog coalition Play Fair ATL said local communities are already experiencing rising housing pressures, labor concerns and overpolicing.

“There’s always a tendency with these mega events to kind of like ‘clean up the city,’ but that’s done on the back of long-term residents,” said Play Fair ATL’s director, Michael Collins.
