Catholics across Atlanta are reacting to the first Sunday blessing from Pope Leo XIV, the first selected from the U.S.

Roughly 100,000 people gathered in St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican City to watch his address on Mother’s Day. Pope Leo told the crowd he was there to deliver a message of peace, and turned to the world’s leaders, chanting, “Never again war!”

Pope Leo also called for lasting peace in Ukraine, humanitarian aid to be provided to the civilians in Gaza and a ceasefire. He was chosen last week when white smoke billowed from the Sistine Chapel.
