More than 1,000 Amazon jobs are expected to be delivered to west Georgia residents in two years.
On Monday, the technology company announced its plans to construct a new sortation center in Hogansville, a Troup County city roughly 14 miles outside of LaGrange.
The company anticipates that the site, scheduled to open in 2027, will create more than 1,000 full-time and part-time jobs.
The Hogansville facility will be Amazon’s third sorting center in the state, according to a Monday press release.
“Georgia continues to be an ideal place for Amazon’s growth, and we’re excited to expand our operations in the Peach State with this new sort center in Hogansville,” said Amazon Manager of Economic Development Deborah Massie in the release.
“We look forward to becoming an integral part of the Hogansville community and Troup County, while providing career advancement opportunities through our training and upskilling programs for local residents,” Massie added.
According to Amazon, hourly employees currently earn an average hourly wage of over $22, as well as access to comprehensive benefits such as full health, vision and dental, 401k with 50% company match and up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave. Employees will also work alongside innovative technology, allowing them to learn new skills and helping create a more efficient labor process.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp expressed in the release that the upcoming Hogansville site is “another significant investment in Georgia’s growing logistics network.”
“We’re again delivering on the commitment to bring opportunity to every part of the state,” said Kemp. “We’re proud of our business-friendly approach that continues to attract both big and small employers to this No. 1 state for business, and I look forward to Amazon’s impact on Troup County and the surrounding region.”
And he is not the only politician excited about the business development that Amazon is expected to bring in.
“This new facility will mean thousands of local jobs, increased opportunity for our residents, and a stronger foundation for future growth,” added Mayor of Hogansville Jake Ayers. “It’s a testament to what we can achieve when we rethink what is possible for our little town, and when we work together to build a brighter future for our community.”
