Auburn University has announced a $1 million donation toward scholarships for students in the metro Atlanta area.
Officials said in a statement Thursday that the Goizueta Foundation’s gift will fund scholarships for students graduating high schools in 10 Georgia counties. The counties are: Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry and Rockdale.
The foundation is based in Atlanta. Its donation comes during an Auburn fundraising campaign aimed at raising $40 million to create new scholarships.
