WABE’s “City Lights” series “Speaking of” spotlights local creatives sharing their inspiration, influences and experiences.

Our new “Speaking of Poetry” series highlights local Atlanta poets in their own words, and today’s segment focuses on Carlos Barboza. He describes his poetry as a conversation, sometimes in the form of a pep talk, but always comedic.

“My poems are flowers, and I’m just as proud of their roots and thorns as I am of their petals. I like to think of my work as part of the grand ecosystem and garden that is the Atlanta poetry scene,” said Barboza.
