The 2024 Summer Olympics are underway in Paris. Among the coaches and competitors is Naomy Grand’Pierre, an Atlanta-based Haitian swim coach who made history as Haiti’s first female Olympic swimmer during the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio.
But she’s not the only member of her family representing Team Haiti. This year, on the global stage, the Olympian is coaching the next generation of swimmers, including her brother, Alexandre Grand’Pierre, 21, and Mayah Chouloute, 14. Alexandre is the third person in their family to compete in the Olympics.
On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” the Grand’Pierres talk with host Rose Scott about this historic moment.
