Beatles Invade Atlanta Stadium, This Day in 1965

– If we were to turn Atlanta's clock back 43 years, to August 18th, 1965, we'd find a city within the grip of 'Beatlemania'. The 'Fab Four' had just opened their second North American tour and were set to play at Atlanta Stadium in what turned out to be their only Atlanta appearance.

Mayor Ivan Allen was quoted as saying the Beatles visit was as big an event for the city as the premiere of “Gone With the Wind.”

Georgia State University historian Cliff Kuhn speaks with Steve Goss about the event. (To listen, click on the speaker icon above.)
