The mantra behind The Bitter Southerner is “Better South, Better World.”

Co-founder Kyle Tibbs Jones says this drives all the work the 10-year-old media company does, from the books and magazine they publish to their podcast and merchandise.

Jones says the small, motivated team behind Bitter Southerner all love the South and have pride in where they come from, but also aspire to see change.

“We love the South, we love this region,” said Jones, “And at the same time, a lot is going on in this world that is very upsetting. We are mostly here to talk about making this a better place.”

Jones joined WABE’s “All Things Considered” to talk about how the company has developed since its founding and what readers can expect from this latest issue.
