Black Voters Matter Fund On GOP-Backed Legislation That Would Restrict Ga. Absentee, Early Voting

Georgia Republicans continue to push adding restrictions to absentee and mail-in voting.

One proposal includes requiring applications to include a photocopy of the applicant’s driver’s license. The move comes despite any credible evidence that the current system lacks security or invites fraud.

But for Cliff Albright, the provisions making their way through the Gold Dome aren’t just inconvenient. They’re chilling voter suppression.

Albright, who co-founded the Black Voters Matter Fund, sat down with WABE’s “All Things Considered” host Jim Burress to explain why.

The ATC team has also reached out to the Georgia Republican Party for an interview with Chairman David Shafer. They haven’t responded.
