The Camden County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to adopt a 6-month moratorium on data centers amid growing statewide concern about the energy-hungry operations.

The county’s proposal comes amid speculation that a Florida-based businessman has requested rezoning of his land located in Kingsland and the county for an industrial park to allow for data centers.

Ben Casey, District 5 Camden County Commissioner, made a point at the meeting that the measure will be limited in its applicability.
