For more than 20 years, the Georgia Asylum and Immigration Network has provided free legal and social services to thousands of asylum seekers and immigrant survivors of violence from more than 120 countries.
However, the work of GAIN and other immigrant-focused organizations in Georgia and throughout the nation is being abruptly impacted and disrupted amid the Trump administration’s massive and aggressive deportation efforts being carried out by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. As a result, this situation is intensifying uncertainty amongst asylees and refugees.
During Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” GAIN’s director of legal services, Adriana Heffley, told host Rose Scott that immigration policies and laws are changing daily and by the hour—making the work of their organization more complex.
