DeKalb County residents are being targeted by people impersonating local sheriff’s deputies. According to local authorities, the scammers are attempting to con people out of their money by claiming they missed jury duty and threatening them with arrest.
However, DeKalb County Chief and Administrative Judge Shondeana C. Morris says she wants to make one thing absolutely clear.
“No court or judge will ever call you demanding payment or threatening arrest for missing jury duty,” Morris said. “These calls are scams. If you receive one, do not provide any personal information or payment. Hang up immediately.”
