Atlanta, GA – John Adams has fashioned an epic tragedy worthy of operatic expression out of the final moments before the first test of the atomic bomb. The Atlanta Symphony presents Doctor Atomic tonight and Sunday afternoon in a concert staged production. The opera's protagonist is the brilliant scientist, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and this human portrait is revealed through the relationship with his wife, Kitty, sung by soprano Jessica Rivera. Wanda Yang Temko is in conversation with Ms. Rivera.
