Dr. Lisa Herbert’s journey in the medical field began with tragedy. At the age of five, after witnessing her grandfather die from a massive heart attack, Herbert promised her mother she would see to it that no other family would suffer a loss due to lack of access to medical care. Decades later, Dr. Herbert has looked out for the well-being of her patients. Now, as the founder of Just the Right Balance, she’s committed to the well-being of her fellow physicians.
According to the “Beyond the Bedside: The State of Nursing in 2025” report, 65% of nurses say they’re experiencing high levels of stress and burnout. The study also found that only 60% of nurses would choose their profession again, and 67% of student nurses are concerned about managing their workload. Short staffing, inadequate pay, lack of leadership support and patient abuse are listed as the top stressors.
On Tuesday’s “Closer Look with Rose Scott,” Dr. Herbert shares her experience and what she’s witnessed when it comes to burnout in the medical field. She’s joined by Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Kristin Oates and Primary Care Physician Dhaval Desai. Each shared their personal experiences and the stress of being a physician caring for patients while simultaneously balancing family life.
