Core Dance has made itself a dynamic community hub for creativity since opening in 1985, and it notably shares art with the public through its vibrant storefront facade. Their series, Encore Dance on Film, features short movies by dance filmmakers from around the world.

The 2023 edition includes 17 films from 9 different countries selected from over 140 entries. These films, all less than 20 minutes long, will be looped and projected on the front windows of Core Studio through August 31.

In this interview, “City Lights” senior producer Kim Drobes speaks with filmmaker Kate Weare and Core Dance co-founder and artistic director Sue Schroeder about the series and Weare’s short film, “Moth.”

Weare’s short film “Moth” is screening as part of the Encore Dance on Film 2023 series, and more information is available here.
