Brian Kennedy was one of the many federal employees who received notice in recent weeks that he would soon be out of a job.
Following a long career in the corporate sector, Kennedy took a position with the IRS less than a year ago. His short tenure with the agency meant he was still on probationary status and vulnerable to the widespread layoffs backed by President Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency.
In a recent interview with “All Things Considered,” Kennedy said he took personal and professional offense at the way the firings were handled. He also said the decision was not merit-based, as he’d had positive performance reviews after his first several months with the service.
When asked if he would return to the IRS if he was requested to do so, Kennedy said he was uncertain at the time.
