Georgia lawmakers are considering multiple bills before the General Assembly related to hemp products and medical marijuana.

In the case of SB 254, Republican leaders introduced an amendment heading into Crossover Day that would ban THC-infused drinks like those made with delta-8 and other compounds.

State Sen. Randy Robertson (R-Cataula) and supporters say these products are dangerous and need to be regulated more strictly.

Joseph Cortes is the executive director of the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild, which represents a growing number of businesses that offer cannabis products alongside their traditional alcoholic offerings. In a recent interview on “All Things Considered,” Cortes said business owners are worried about losing revenue as the state tightens its THC regulations.

The Georgia House will now consider these bills.
