As more television shows and movies were filmed in Georgia in recent years, the state received the nickname, “Y’allywood.” But now, the showbiz lights appear to be dimming in the Peach State.
Jewel Wicker, an Atlanta-based award-winning entertainment reporter, says the film industry is being impacted nationwide with fewer productions. Georgia production companies are also slowing on shooting movies and television shows.
This all comes on the heels of the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes and as states such as California are trying to lure film productions away from Georgia.
