Georgia History: Hurt Park

We take a walk in the park with Dr. Tim Crimmins

– On November 23rd, 1940, Mayor Hartsfield and a crowd huddled under umbrellas for the dedication of a new city park. Bordered by Courtland, Gilmer Street and Edgewood Avenue, it was called Hurt Park?named after deceased businessman Joel Hurt.

WABE's John Lemley recently took a walk in the park with Dr. Tim Crimmins, Director of the Center for Neighborhood and Metropolitan Studies at Georgia State to learn more about the park's namesake.
