Georgia is starting to issue a one-time tax refund to residents: $250 for single filers, $375 for heads of household and $500 for joint filers who filed their 2024 and 2025 taxes.

Gov. Brian Kemp signed the tax rebate, totaling more than $1 billion, in March via House Bill 1000. The state has issued similar refunds three times before in recent years. Funds for these rebates come from the state’s budget surplus.

“Georgians know best how to spend their money, not the government,” said Kemp in a Monday release.
