Results from the 2025-2026 Georgia Milestones assessments show that students continued to improve in mathematics, science and social studies, according to a press release from the Georgia Department of Education on Thursday.
Georgia Milestones evaluates the learning patterns of students across the state through four levels of achievement: Beginning Learners, Developing Learners, Proficient Learners and Distinguished Learners.
Students in grades 3-8 take the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade (EOG) assessments in grades 3-8, while students enrolled in identified high school courses take Georgia Milestones End-of-Course (EOC) assessments.
The department reports that this past school year saw the percentage of students achieving the Proficient Learner level or above increase or hold steady on 12 of 13 End-of-Grade (EOG) and EOC assessments.
On six out of seven math assessments, scores increased or held steady compared to previous years. In addition, three mathematics grade levels – fourth, fifth, and sixth – and high-school algebra reached all-time highs in the history of the Georgia Milestone system.
