Helene death toll jumps to 25 in Georgia, over 100 across the Southeast

Three days after Hurricane Helene ripped across the Southeast, the number of fatalities in Georgia has jumped from 17 to 25.

Three days after Hurricane Helene ripped across the Southeast, the death toll is now 107 people in six states as of Monday morning, with the number of fatalities in Georgia jumping from 17 to 25.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp told reporters at a press conference Monday in Augusta that the storm “literally spared no one.” Most people in and around Augusta, a city of about 200,000 people near the South Carolina border, were still without power Monday, and Kemp and other officials tried to reassure residents that they felt their misery.
