Some U.S. House members from the Atlanta area have already made their positions clear on whether they’ll vote to end the government shutdown.
A bill to end what is now the country’s longest ever shutdown passed the Senate Monday. Now the bill awaits passage in the House, and the final vote could be as soon as Wednesday.
The shutdown has had widespread effects; at least 670,000 federal employees have been furloughed, airlines have cancelled more than 9,000 flights due to short-staffed control towers and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits have been in limbo in a legal battle between the Trump administration and federal judges.
