Issues continue around the site for Atlanta’s planned Public Safety Training Facility as contractors begin clearing the area for construction. DeKalb County inspectors issued a stop work order but quickly lifted it.

DeKalb County officials announced Thursday night that the Department of Planning and Sustainability issued a stop work order at the site in the South River Forest due to malfunctioning erosion control measures. Those include a silt fence inspectors say was damaged when a tree fell onto the fence.

Within hours, DeKalb County announced the stop work order would end Friday morning. The announcement said the Atlanta Police Foundation was notified it had been lifted because the issues were brought to compliance.

Land clearing continues as opponents to building in the forest are challenging the permits that allow construction to happen there.
