A U.S. magistrate judge has found the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in breach of a settlement agreement for the second time in three years in a case related to the care that women with serious mental illness receive while in jail.

Sheriff Patrick Labat’s office has said it has filed an appeal.

“It is unfortunate that [the Georgia Advocacy Office] consistently files for these motions,” a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office said in an Aug. 28 email. “It is undisputed that the conditions for the female mental health inmates have improved.”
