Lorca Comes to Life

Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde present a night of poetry, music, and dance

– Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde presents La Luna Asoma: Inspired by Lorca this Saturday night in Sisters Chapel at Spelman College. A night of music inspired by the works of Federico Garc?a Lorca, Spain's most deeply appreciated and highly revered poet and dramatist, this performance is sponsored in part by the Department of World Languages and Literature of Spelman College and features the talents of the Atlanta University Center and internationally renowned guest artists. The centerpiece is the world premiere of a work that the Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde commissioned, “Ciudad Sin Sue?o (city without dreams),” by Atlanta composer David Marcus. This dramatic cantata will be accompanied by a multi-media presentation of images from the Art Gallery at Clark Atlanta University. The concert will also feature music by Eric Whitacre, Rautavaara, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco, among others. Composer David Marcus is in conversation with Wanda Yang Temko.
