Man steals Milton mayor’s car, eludes Sandy Springs police after crash

MILTON, Ga. — The Milton mayor is driving a rental after a man allegedly stole his car and crashed it while fleeing Sandy Springs police.

Around 1 a.m. on Dec. 16, Milton Mayor Peyton Jamison called 911 to report an unidentified man had just driven off with his 2022 Jeep Wagoneer. According to law enforcement, the Jeep was parked in Jamison’s driveway on Birmingham Highway.

Security camera footage shows a man approaching the car after coming from the woods to the southeast. He got into the vehicle and left, damaging both the Jeep and Jamison’s Ford truck in the process, according to the police report.
