Mark Warren’s Secrets of the Forest Offers a New Way of Interacting with Nature

Author and educator, Mark Warren’s book, “Secrets of the Forest: The Magic and Mystery of Plants and the Lore of Survival” gives carefully detailed and illustrated instructions on identifying plants and their uses.
He even discusses how he approaches a plant before harvesting.
Warren runs a school of traditional and environmental knowledge in North Georgia called Medicine Bow.
He described the effect of exposure to the natural world in this way, “The student steps from being a spectator of nature to being a participant and that leads to intimacy. There’s a bond that is growing there. You become more engaged in that complicated web of life that we call ecology by becoming one of the players instead of one of the observers.”
Mark Warren will speak about his book, “Secrets of the Forest: The Magic and Mystery of Plants and the Lore of Survival” at Eagle Eye Book Shop in Decatur on Thursday, July 18 at 7 p.m.
