Megan Thee Stallion used her performance on Saturday Night Live‘s season premiere to criticize Kentucky attorney general Daniel Cameron for failing to deliver justice for Breonna Taylor.

During Megan’s first song of the night, her viral single “Savage,” the backdrop of her set read “Protect Black Women.” About halfway through the song, after Beyoncé‘s verse from the song’s remix played over the stage’s loudspeakers, the music cut out to the sound of rapid gunfire while Megan and her dancers stood silently in front of a screen riddled with images of gunshots.

The dramatic pause included a recording of Malcolm X, speaking in 1962, in which he says, “The most disrespected person in America is the black woman. The most unprotected, neglected person in America is the black woman. Who taught you to hate the texture of your hair, the color of your skin, the shape of your nose? Who taught you to hate yourself from the top of your head to the soles of your feet?”
