Metro Atlanta adds over 60,000 residents in past year, totaling 5.3M, according to ARC

Metro Atlanta has added approximately 64,440 residents to the 11-county region in one year, according to a report released Wednesday by the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC).

The report charted the region’s population growth from April 2024 to April 2025, bringing the total number of residents to 5,285,474. The report shows a slight increase compared to last year’s data, which documented 62,700 new residents and a total of 5,221,074 people.

The counties examined — Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Forsyth, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, and Rockdale — all saw population increases, with Fulton and Gwinnett seeing the highest growth at 18,800 and 15,200, respectively.
