Metro Atlanta school districts have canceled in-person instruction on Tuesday ahead of predicted below-freezing temperatures and possible snow.

Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency to prepare for the incoming winter weather. The National Weather Service of Peachtree City, Georgia, has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of north and central Georgia, including the metro Atlanta region, from Tuesday 10 a.m. to Wednesday 7 a.m. The NWS is predicting less than 1 inch of snow accumulation.

According to the NWS, road conditions during this time could be slippery and hazardous. Many schools cited the potential dangers of school buses and students navigating icy roads on Tuesday.
