Moms Demand Action continues its work to combat gun violence amid increase in mass shootings

According to data compiled by Gun Violence Archive, there have been at least 40 mass shootings in the United States since the start of 2023.

Data also suggests there have more shootings so far in 2023 than at this point in any year in the last decade.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data also show that in 2020 firearm injuries became the leading cause of death for those between the ages of 1 and 19.

On Friday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action and Laura Judge, elections lead for Georgia Moms Demand Action, spoke about the ongoing fight to end gun violence and reform gun laws amid rising mass shootings and child death.

During the conversation, Watts also talked about why she’s stepping down from her post but continuing her work to combat gun violence.
