Gwendolyn Campbell, valedictorian of the Class of 2025 at Morris Brown College, embodies the spirit of resilience.

While working toward earning her second undergraduate degree, a business degree in organizational management and leadership, she faced triumphs and challenges head-on. She worked full-time and in March 2025, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, while being a caregiver for both her parents.

For the Class of 2025 graduation series on “Closer Look,” Campbell reflected on undergoing a bilateral mastectomy just four days after delivering her valedictory speech.

She also talked about her academic journey, which included graduating with honors with her husband of more than 30 years and her long-term goals of going to law school to provide legal help to youth.
