The Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) announced on Tuesday that people living in the 912 area code region of Southeast Georgia will soon see an additional area code.
According to the commission, once 912 has become exhausted, a portion of new users will be assigned a 565 area code. Residents with an already established number will not be affected by the transition.
The North American Numbering Plan Administrator made the decision, giving Georgia its 11th area code statewide.
