New Federal Budget Earmarks $130M For Savannah Harbor Project

President Donald Trump‘s proposed federal budget for fiscal 2020 would put more than $130 million toward completion of the Savannah Harbor deepening project, Georgia’s two U.S. senators announced Tuesday.

If approved by Congress, it would represent the third consecutive year the long-awaited project will receive its full allocation of federal funding. The project received about $85 million from the feds in fiscal 2018 and $101 million during the last fiscal year.

“I’ve been fighting for the Savannah Harbor Expansion Project for 20 years,” said Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga. “With this announcement, the finish line is finally in sight.”
