Georgia has formed its first PTSA with a focus on special education students.

Special Education Parent Teacher Student Association was established to provide advocacy for students and their families across the state – a group that lacks resources outside of the Atlanta metro area.

Anita Hagins Jones, the president of the Georgia PTA, Priscilla Borders, the Georgia PTA family engagement chair and Lola Green, the founder and executive director of the Urban Indigo Foundation, were guests on Thursday’s edition of “Closer Look.”

They spoke with show host Rose Scott about the association’s mission and top priorities. Green also shared details about advocating for her son and why she feels it’s important for parents not to blindly trust but to take action.
