The Gwinnett County Police Department is at risk of losing millions of dollars from the county’s most populous city, as the community considers creating its own police force.

Currently, Peachtree Corners pays Gwinnett about $9 million a year for police protection. However, the city council could vote to cut ties with the county and use that money to stand up and operate a local police department instead.
