A big redevelopment at Phipps Plaza mall is gearing up for vertical construction.
Several permits were filed in Atlanta on Dec. 19 for the project at the upscale Buckhead mall. They include plans for the Nobu Hotel and pool, 13-story office building, an “anchor” building, and a four-story parking deck. The permits total more than 1.1 million square feet.
Mall giant Simon Property Group in October held a ceremony to kick off the development. It’s remaking the former Belk department store into a mixed-use project that includes the 150-room Nobu Hotel and 10,000-square-foot Nobu restaurant; a three-level Life Time athletic club; a Class-A office building; and an outdoor event venue.
