Georgia Votes 2022
WABE’s Georgia Votes 2022 is the podcast that shepherds listeners through the 2022 election season. It takes them into the whirlwind world of Georgia on the brink of possible major political change. What happens in Georgia this November will have national implications as Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock is up for re-election.
In a state where former President Donald Trump is actively pushing four candidates against incumbent Republicans, (Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Insurance Commissioner) and three candidates in open seats (U.S. Senate, 10th Congressional District and Lt. Governor), the May 24 Republican Primary will be a true test of the former president’s influence on Georgia Republicans.
But we will also examine Democratic races ahead of the May primaries as the party has competitive contests for several key positions. (Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, 13th and 7th Congressional District)
And of course, there’s the big gubernatorial race in November between Democrat Stacey Abrams and either Brian Kemp or one of his Republican challengers.
This podcast also looks at the issues driving voters in Georgia this year.
It features WABE Politics reporters Sam Gringlas and Rahul Bali, Editor Susanna Capelouto and Emma Hurt, reporter for Axios.
