Georgia residents may have a return to harsh weather conditions this week as the state faces freezing temperatures and the possible reappearance of snowfall.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Atlanta will put a winter storm watch in effect from Tuesday 10 a.m. to Wednesday 7 a.m. for counties around and south of I-85, and up to 2 inches of total snow accumulation could be possible.

According to a Monday morning update from the NWS, “slippery, hazardous road conditions” could be possible for Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning and evening.

“Given the very cold temperatures in place the next several days, this snow will stick and likely create travel impacts very quickly,” the update stated.

This will mark the second time in 2025 that Atlanta residents will prepare for potential snowfall. A winter storm hit the city on Jan. 10.

The snow, while celebrated by many residents, also led to Georgia being placed under a state of emergency order. The storm also led to the cancellations of schools, flights and more, as well as minor road accidents and power outages.
