As a young man, Edward Irons really wanted to go to college. But for his family, there was simply no way to afford it.  So he made a plan of his own. Save his money and work toward the opportunity of going to college. But then … he was drafted into World War II. In this story from 2015, he tells one of his former students, Kiplyn Primus, what happened next and how his hope for college became a reality.

Economist, Author & Dean Emeritus of Clark Atlanta University, Dr. Edward Daryl Irons, Sr., passed away peacefully at his home in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 17, 2022. He was 98 years old.
