Texas company brings jobs to Georgia

A Texas company is building a manufacturing plant southwest of Augusta.

PyraMax Ceramics will hire at least 60 people by the end of the year to work at the plant in Jefferson County. The company makes a product used in the advanced drilling technique known as fracking.

PyraMax President Don Anschutz says the company thought about building the plant in South Carolina and some other states. He says the company picked Georgia partly because of the energy manufacturing tax break Governor Deal plans to sign into law.

“We’re a big user of natural gas,” said Anschutz. “So, that 7% reduction in the tax is very critical to success.”

Anschutz says production is scheduled to start next March. The company is investing $140 million in the plant.
