The Atlanta Hawks planned ‘Magic City Night.’ The NBA shut it down

A controversial promotion for an Atlanta Hawks game will not take place tonight. The NBA canceled the team’s planned celebration of the famous Magic City strip club, saying it made the decision amid growing “concerns” from partners and fans.

Some locals say the event was distinctly Atlanta, like 57-year-old Atlantan Walter Kelly. He was decked out in his Hawks gear as he walked into State Farm Arena for a game against Brooklyn last week.

Kelly is a season-ticket holder and was looking forward to going to the Hawks’ Magic City Night tonight until it was canceled.
