The High Museum’s Latest Exhibition Features Artist Julie Mehretu

The High Museum has announced it will host the first major traveling exhibition of work by artist Julie Mehretu. The exhibition will be on view from Oct. 24 through Jan. 31.

The exhibition will include work spanning her more than two-decadeslong career.  The exhibition will feature 40 drawings and prints and 35 paintings.

Mehretu is known for her complex creative process, which involves combining a diverse array of mediums, including cave markings, architectural renderings, and photojournalism.

Mehretu is also known for the size and scope of her work. Much of her art is created on large horizontal canvases, filled with layer after layer of complex paint and line structures.

High Museum Contemporary Art Curator Michael Rooks joined Lois Reitzes to talk about the exhibition and the impact of Mehretu’s work.
