The once-in-a-generation voice of soul legend Donny Hathaway receives special tribute in the new musical “The Voices of Donny Hathaway.” Classics like “Someday We’ll All Be Free,” and “A Song for You” will be relived with a lead performance as Hathaway by Robert King Jr., who also created and wrote the show.
“The Voices of Donny Hathaway” is on stage at AMC Performance Company in Atlanta through March 2. Playwright and performer Robert King Jr. and Donnita Hathaway, daughter of Donny and co-producer of the musical, joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to discuss the show.
“I always like to say that when Donny Hathaway sings a song you believed him,” said Donnita Hathaway.
