The Stitch is a downtown Atlanta highway-capping project. The local project, which receives federal grant funding, is estimated to cost around $750 million. The project has been in the works for years. It involves transforming and connecting 17 acres of land, near the I-75/I-85 Downtown Connector between the Civic Center MARTA Center, into urban green space and affordable housing.
Phase 1 of the project is slated to start toward the end of 2026. However, will the Trump administration’s federal funding cuts impact the development?
On Wednesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Jack Cebe, who serves as the director of The Stitch, talked about why he believes the project is directly linked to downtown Atlanta’s growth and prosperity and how it will boost Georgia’s economy. He further discussed what’s next for the development project amid funding uncertainty.
