Zoo Atlanta Mourns Death Of Shamba, 58, Its Oldest Gorilla

Zoo Atlanta has recently opened a newly renovated African lion exhibit to visitors. The $3 million project features three separate viewing areas, including an expansive observation deck with seating that overlooks the full habitat area.

Atlanta’s zoo is mourning the death of its oldest gorilla, a 58-year-old female named Shamba.

Zoo Atlanta says the western lowland gorilla was found unresponsive Friday.
