In September the former Armstrong World industries site was added to the EPA’s Superfund list when cancer-causing PCB’s were found in the soil. Now a site next door where they used to manufacture weapons and car parts could be added.
EPA project manager Donna Seadler says a common metal cleaner known as trichloroethylene or TCE is in groundwater near a tributary of the Ocmulgee River known as Rocky Creek.
“It’s at levels above what should be in the groundwater and is moving toward the creek and it would not be good for any potential groundwater user or for the surface water pathway for that to enter the creek,”
