Annie Bell Price, known as “Ms. Ann” to the hungry customers of Ann’s Snack Bar, died over the weekend. No cause of death has been given yet. She was 72.

Price opened her restaurant on Memorial Drive in 1971 and had been hand-pressing burgers ever since. Her most famous invention, the humongous “Ghetto Burger,” was acclaimed by critics, celebrities and food-lovers alike. The double cheeseburger – topped with onion, lettuce, tomato, bacon and special seasonings and sauces – was made nationally famous after the Wall Street Journal’s Raymond Sokolov named it the best burger he had over a several-month-long burger tasting journey.
